PREVIEW OF GATSBY ESSAY

    The notion of the American dream figures prominently in this story.  How do readers define the American dream?  Moreover, is pursuing the American dream necessarily a good thing?

Well to begin with the American dream is a little over powering, it makes sure that they aren't always the same afterwards they have accomplished their goal. Many of them seem to always have what they want in the beginning but once they want it back they usually don't get anything in return. Sometimes its hard to accomplish what you want but even so you still make sure that whatever you get back is what you want from the beginning. In my part I don't think the American dream is a good thing since many people seem to always have some things that backfire. Like in Gatsby we see that Gatsby gets really rich but he leaves the one thing he most desires which would be Daisy. As they fall apart because he goes to war he seems to want her back when he comes again to West Egg village and tries to get her even though shes married with Tom. Tom and Daisy are both the same since all they really care about is money and making sure that someone else fixes there problem. There are times where people seem to have a certain dream but they can never accomplish because they can't go any further or because they don't have what they want from the beginning. I wouldn't care about the dream that is called the American since they seem only to care about a certain thing. But anyways the whole point is that the American dream isn't always the best thing that there is especially if its just money and having the desire of wanting and getting it. For me that's just off since people seem to always have a a thing about how things are especially if the thing is about making sure that they are happy. Not all the time is the thing good but also the thing could be bad in many ways because things go complicated in many ways but also that they get very sincere. At some times they seem to think that they have the thing they want at all times but in reality they don't. The thing is that many people think we make sure things are always the thing they want but like i said before they aren't always the thing they want.
